Context / Overview
This project was a repackaging concept for Flicker, the debut album by Niall Horan. The original album cover and related single covers mainly use images of Niall himself, which makes the packaging feel quite expected within the pop and singer-songwriter genres. From my research, I noticed that many similar artists also rely heavily on portrait photography, so I wanted to create a packaging system that communicated the emotion of the album without depending on the artist’s face.
Aim of the project
The project aimed to redesign Flicker as a more emotional, personal, and interactive physical product. Since music is now mostly streamed, I wanted the physical packaging to give fans a stronger reason to buy and keep it. The design needed to feel like a meaningful fan object, not just another album cover.

concept.
The repackage concept is built around origami, especially the origami heart. I chose origami because it feels handmade, personal, and delicate, which links closely to the emotional tone of Flicker. The album is about love, vulnerability, romance, and personal storytelling, so folding paper into hearts became a way to visually represent the care and emotion within the songs.
The origami instruction sheet was designed to make the vinyl set feel more interactive and collectable. Since the album cover uses origami hearts as the main visual concept, the instruction sheet gives fans a way to create their own heart, making the packaging feel more personal instead of just something to look at.
It also fits into the vinyl set as an insert, similar to a lyric sheet or poster, but with a more hands-on purpose. When the user opens the vinyl, they are not only receiving the record, but also a small activity that continues the emotional idea of the album. Folding the heart links back to the themes of love, care, and heartfelt storytelling in Flicker.
